A Short Guide to Working with Spirits

January 2024

I have received a number of messages from people on Discord asking how to use the servitors from this website. It has been so long since I started working with spirits, and I know there are plenty of other resources in books about how to do so, so I never really considered this necessary. However due to popular demand, here is the (very short) guide.

  1. Figure out what you’re going to ask for. Spirits/deities are (usually) pretty smart and can see an overview of the situation you are in.
  2. If a sigil is available, copy the sigil onto a fresh sheet of paper with a sharpie. The copy does not have to be perfect, what’s more important is the general shape. Do not trace the sigil from a computer screen, as the ink will stain through the paper and ruin the screen.
  3. If you want to prepare an offering, do so now. For new spirits I am contacting, I generally use some sort of alcohol or juice, as this is easy to dispose of.
  4. (Optional) Light candles/dim lights in the room to prepare the summoning.
  5. Gaze deeply into the sigil and forcefully call the spirit’s name out loud a couple times.
  6. State your request vocally.
  7. Continue gazing into the sigil and pause for a minute or two, relaxing the mind. Typically the spirit will make its presence known and you may enter an altered state. However some spirits may not become present but will nevertheless hear your petition and work on it.
  8. Thank the spirit, blow out candles, turn on the lights.
  9. Important! Destroy the sigil, either by tearing it up, running water over it or burning it. The exception is if you want to have some permanent presence, such as for an altar.
  10. Dispose of offering within a few hours if you made one.

After connection has been established several times, it is typically not necessary to use the sigil. With even more practice, requests can be made with thought alone. Alternatively spirits can be petitioned through written word on paper.
